  • Crater Lake National Park

Carter Lake is the sixth oldest national park in the United States, the NP and the only one in Oregon. The park encompasses Crater Lake caldera, which was destroyed by the volcano, as well as the still resting on the surrounding hills and forests. The caldera rim ranges in height from 2100 2400 metres (7,000-8,000 feet), the Lake is 1,883 feet (6,178 feet).

At its deepest point, Carter Lake is 594 m (1949 ft) deep, which makes it the deepest lake in the United States and the ninth deepest in the world. Because of its depth and because the waters come from rain and snow, the Lake is just amazingly beautiful, deep blue color. As you can see from the pictures below, the color of the Lake is completely different from the white snow and graphite mountain peaks.

Home away from home four weekends in a row, May 2009. North Entrance of Crater Lake. When you're done skiing, that road is perfect for running and rolling. Great training base camp.
