Navagio Beach is the world's most exclusive beach, surrounded by huge cliffs of white rock, white sand and deep blue water. It is the most famous beach in Greece and considered a trademark of the island Zakynthos. The beach is photographed millions of time and the magnificent view that is often displayed on promotional materials and postcards. This small and secluded, yet strikingly beautiful sandy cove is located on the northwest coast of the island of Zakynthos, near the town Anafotiria, quite the opposite of Zakynthos island capital.
The beach is only accessible by boat or cruise, but you can see from the top of the hills. For Playa Navagio spectacular photos above, you can climb on top of the cliff where the new gazebo offers amazing photo opportunities. Photos more cards are taken from there.
To get to the point of view, just follow the signs that read "Navagio". It is impossible to reach the beach on foot, you need to take a boat or you can come here on a cruise. Frequent boat service is available Navagio Beach from nearby Porto Vromi located south, or from the port of St. Nikolas in volimes, located north of Navagio Beach.
You can also take a boat from the capital of the island of Zante. Porto Boats Vromi this beach paradise out once every hour and take about 30 minutes.
Here i just want few tips if you get there, take water with yourself as the water in the area may be limited. The water around the Shipwreck cove is cooler than other area of Greece. In the summer seasons specially avoid to visit at the peak time of the day as this small area will be very over crowded. Best time is early in the morning or in afternoon. And one more thing avoids to going near or inside this old ship, as its rusty metal is dangerously sharp.
History of Shipwreck
There are three or four names used for the beach, as initially Agios Georgios their calls, but now most popular are Navagio or wreck or even Zakynthos smugglers cove. Why its Get these names there is also a story behind it, you can see in the photos below is an old boat on the beach it is destroyed.
This boat actually used by smugglers in 1981. They use fo smuggling cigarettes, wine and women. Later not know Navy took action or storm hampered their work the ship was buried and is located in Agios Georgios in 1983. After earning a wreck or popular as navagio (Shipwreck in Greece).
