The High Tatra Mountains - Poland


The High Tatra is located on the border between Slovakia and Poland. Most of the peaks and valleys are found in Slovakia, but outside the main singing lead valleys and terraces where you can find many mountain lakes (tarns). The three largest are in the High Tatra Polish and it is these lakes that make this wonderland of a photographer.

The High Tatra Mountains - Poland

The National Park Tatra Mountains is one of the largest parks in Poland and the most unique. Along with the Slovak Tatra Mountain National Park forms a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. 11,500 acres of the park area is strictly protected. The rest of the park is accessible to tourists - hiking, climbing, caving and allowed winter sports. There are 250 km of mountain trails and routes that vary in difficulty, but many are walking tracks.

The most characteristic plants of the Tatra Mountains are Swiss stone pine and edelweiss. The animals most often associated with these mountains are: marmot, bear and chamois (the only European species of antelope).
