How to Clean an LCD

An LCD screen , also known as liquid crystal display can be found in many electronic devices such as televisions, laptops, computer monitors, cell phones and portable devices. Unlike past crystal displays, LCDs are made ​​from a soft plastic to be adequately cleaned or maintained in order to avoid irreparable damage and scratching. Instructions

1. Turn off the LCD electronics.
2. Prepare a solution of isopropyl alcohol and water in equal parts, half alcohol and half distilled water. Pour into a spray bottle.
3. Lightly spray the solution on a microfiber washcloth.
4. Use damp microfibre cloth to gently wipe the LCD screen. Use circular motions and minimal pressure. Do not rub the fabric back and forth from left to right, and remember not to use too much pressure.
5. Let dry completely before powering the electronic device.

Tips and Warnings

1. The commercial cleaning kilts designed specifically for LCD screens work great and can contain anti-static agent that helps reduce the accumulation of dust particles.
2. Never use tissue or paper towel to clean an LCD screen. Paper products can scratch the screen.
3. Isopropyl alcohol is flammable.
4. The mineral or tap water should be avoided, because both contain dissolved salts that can leave white spots on an LCD screen.
5. Avoid cleaners containing acetone, ammonia, ethyl alcohol, toluene or methylene chloride because they can cause permanent damage to this type of display.
